Planning your study-abroad budget

A simple way to estimate what your studies will really cost β€” and how to reduce it.

A clear budget helps you choose the right program and prepare your financial documents for the visa.

What to include

  • Tuition fees for every year of the program
  • Accommodation and utilities
  • Food, transport and phone
  • Health insurance
  • Visa and application fees
  • Flights and initial set-up costs

Ways to reduce costs

Consider shorter programs, foundation or diploma pathways, twinning programs that start at home, and scholarships. Some destinations also have much lower living costs than others.

Keep a buffer

Exchange rates and prices change. Keep some extra funds for emergencies and the first few weeks after arrival.

Ask a counsellor for current fee sheets for the programs you are considering.
